Judo – The Gentle Way
Judo is a dynamic and disciplined martial art that originated in Japan in 1882, founded by Jigoro Kano. The word "judo" means "the gentle way", reflecting its philosophy of using an opponent’s strength and movement against them, rather than meeting force with force.
Rooted in jujutsu, an ancient form of close combat, judo blends physical technique with mental focus. It emphasizes throws, holds, pins, and submissions rather than striking, making it both strategic and skillful.
Judo is more than just a sport — it’s a way to develop:
Self-discipline and respect
Physical fitness and coordination
Confidence and focus
Mutual welfare and benefit, a core part of judo’s moral code
Today, judo is practiced by millions of people across the globe and has been an Olympic sport since 1964. Whether you're training for competition or personal growth, judo offers a strong foundation in both body and mind.
